Step one
With the market launch of a new hydraulic system, GRIBI Hydraulics AG hit the pulse of the times. The new product was so well received by customers that the volume of orders increased massively. In order to be able to serve the market in the usual quality, reliability and on-time delivery, a solution had to be found. A productivity increase of at least 20% was therefore absolutely necessary.
Step two
For GRIBI Hydraulics AG it is a special challenge, because the components are almost identical, but there is a left and a right version of the hydraulics. In order to achieve the highest process reliability for the future and to be able to guarantee the corresponding quality, the installation of a SETAGO Pick to Light worker guidance system for the assembly workstation became essential. In the past, the components of the hydraulic system were assembled at individual workstations in so-called batch manufacturing. This resulted in relatively long and time-consuming walking distances. The storage of individual parts was also costly and resulted in unnecessarily large inventories on a permanent basis. The objective was to realize the project in the shortest possible time in order to meet the market demand for the newly developed product as quickly as possible. It was also important that the new assembly line meet all the requirements of "lean production".
Step three
Due to the successfully implemented projects in the past and the positive experience with mobile assembly trolleys, the company again relied on this solution and the SETAGO Pick to Light assembly workstation system from Phoenix Mecano during the design phase. Since a well thought-out arrangement of components at the assembly workstation ultimately even allowed the test bench to be integrated directly into the assembly line, the assembly process can now take place in a one-pice flow. The advantages are clear. There are no more walking routes and even the costly warehousing is no longer necessary due to the Kanban system that is common in lean production. With an increase in production of up to 30%, the original target was ultimately far exceeded.
